The digital European Union
a) lacks a tool to foster a functioning team spirit among its 450 million people, and
b) lacks an inspiring "central square" to draw everyone together.
c) A "Personal EU TeamFinder" as a new dimension of europa.eu would turn these shortcomings into a success story.
a)
We, the 450 million citizens, form the foundation of the European Union. Precisely because of the enriching power of our unique cultural diversity,
it is essential for us to engage in pioneering interaction—with one another and with the Union across borders—using digital tools. This engagement should begin at school age and continue daily throughout our lives, bringing significant added value to our collective development and success.
Under the relevant regulation, a unified digital identity wallet (eIDAS2) will be introduced across the EU by 2026, enabling strong identity verification and the secure sharing of data with various services.
This paves the way for the "Personal EU" era, utilizing the core "TeamFinder" concept—originally introduced back in 2006—to bring a unique, Union-wide, and strongly authenticated EU team to every citizen's screen with just a single click.
b)
europa.eu is the well-known web address of the European Union, serving as the online home for the EU's central organization. This same .eu domain would be an equally natural choice for the web address of any actor—whether in politics, the public sector, the private sector, or as an individual—identifying as European. - To strengthen the EU’s central administration, the website requires a crucial addition—a foundation that enables a new kind of Union-wide understanding, in which Union citizens act as key, complementary participants.
c)
Through the TeamFinder feature on the Europa.eu website, the EU has an excellent opportunity to offer new forms of training, innovation, and inspiration, to foster daily connections across the Union, and to bring a new kind of pioneering leadership to the entire Union.
This is a win-win situation where benefiting oneself also benefits others, and vice versa—in a spirit that unites all the Union’s PPPP partners (political, public, private, and personal).
You spend more and more of your free time on "thumb-level" social media - and the result is often just a feeling of passing the time. Only the digital giants win.
Part of the working time is freer R&D activity (Research and development). It is a purposeful investment in the implementation of new products, long-term processes, services, and a more meaningful people-centeredness.
Your life and home are your business. There, the R&D spirit would also be vital and open up tomorrow's thinking.
As a citizen of the European Union and holder of an EU passport, you have many great Union-wide rights and challenges to expand your life's purpose.
You are part of the European Union and its new "you-centered" policy.
The Union itself has declared the citizens as a priority. The homepage europa.eu should and could be a meaningful and interesting daily tool for us 400 million adults. This requires new clear thinking and its implementation in structuring the content of the europa.eu levels and providing it, starting with the decisive front page.
In the European Union, the world's most enlightened multicultural union, our lives must be extended to the rights and challenges of the individual, the citizen, the 450 million people and your Union. You create your tomorrow (and obligations that reinforce fairness and awareness of threats) - as a natural way to live and act tomorrow.
Understanding this is an essential development task of the entire Union.
The importance of hope and faith are keys to practical action in our world. Fortunately, they are fundamental features of our multicultural European culture. Let's build on this foundation a successful chain reaction that overcomes the dangers.
